Moreton Bay Islands Bird-Watching Voyage

This voyage is planned for the sheltered waters around southern Moreton Bay Islands with
some sailing but time allowed for bird watching and bird photography on some of
the Bay islands.

South Passage is a 100-ft gaff-rigged schooner designed to be sailed the traditional
way. You will join with the crew who will literally "show you the ropes"!  Everything is controlled by
hand from the deck...no electric winches here!  Even the anchor is brought up by hand power!  This requires team work - not brute force -so everyone can get involved.

But it's not all work - there'll be plenty of time to anchor and head ashore for exploring
the islands’ birding hotspots.

The itinerary will be dependent on the weather but a possible itinerary could be:

Day 1 – Sail to Moreton Island with time to explore,

Day 2 – A short sail to Green Island with time to go ashore for some early morning birding. Then sail on to Peel Island for a swim and more birding.

Day 3 – Macleay and Lamb Islands are next on the agenda – maybe a visit to Macleay Island Bowling club or Pub for lunch.

Day 4 – Return sail to Manly with perhaps a time for a visit to Coochiemudlo Island.

The price includes all on-board meals, safety gear, training and accommodation.

You are welcome to board on the Thursday evening before departure - no extra charge for the night's accommodation.  There are plenty of places around Manly for a lovely meal onshore.

No smoking and no alcohol on board please.

Berths are strictly limited.

Great value for an unforgettable experience!
