Get away from the world, leave your emails and text messages behind and take on the sea! This is a modern ship built and operated along traditional lines. Be part of the crew sailing the beautiful 100ft gaff-rigged schooner heading out to the open ocean travelling for 7 adventure-filled days. There will be many beautiful spots to stop, swim, snorkel and explore along the magnificent Whitsunday coast. 

South Passage is a sail training ship. As a part of our voyage crew, you will be taking part in all aspects of operating the ship - hoisting sails, keeping a lookout, doing anchor watch, navigating, taking the helm, daily maintenance and cleaning. There will also be time to enjoy the environment - the sea life, the exhilaration of sailing, swimming and island bush walk excursions.

NO ALCOHOL OR SMOKING on board - as a sail training ship, South Passage is a dry ship.

PROPOSED ITINERARY

Day 1: Townsville to Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic island - Forts Walk

Day 2: Magnetic Island to Orpheus Island

Day 3: Orpheus Island to Hinchinbrook Island - part of Thorsborne Trail

Day 4: Sail north to Dunk Island - Island Loop/Mt Kootaloo walk - then evening sail down to Hinchinbrook Channel

Day 5: Hinchinbrook Channel to Pioneer bay on Orpheus island via Pelorus Island for a swim

Day 6: Orpheus Island south to Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island

Day 7  Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island to Townsville via Radical Bay.
